Spermidine is an autophagy-inducing compound found in wheat germ, aged cheese, and mushrooms. Observational studies associate higher dietary spermidine intake with lower mortality. A small human trial showed improved cognitive function in older adults. The mechanistic story (autophagy induction) is compelling, but the clinical evidence is still early-stage.
The full evidence review — including the autophagy compound with an actual human signal — and why it's still too early to recommend — is in Section 10 (The Supplement Deep-Dive) of The Anti-Longevity Playbook.
